After weaning, young pigeons need a feed that supports healthy development without placing unnecessary strain on their digestive system. As birds mature, many fanciers gradually introduce different mixes to match their stage of development and prepare them for future training.
Our range includes junior pigeon feeds with and without maize, giving you the flexibility to choose the most suitable mix as young birds develop. Our own S.S.S junior mixes are packed at our County Durham mill, where we’ve been supplying pigeon feed across the UK for more than 40 years.

Use a maize-free junior mix with smaller grains that’s easy to pick up and digest. As crops strengthen, introduce light maize gradually.
Early on, many lofts favour maize-free to protect tender crops. As youngsters develop, add orange maize in small steps for controlled energy.
Typically 30–50 g per bird per day, split into smaller meals. Adjust for growth rate, temperature and activity; avoid constant leftovers.
Once youngsters have steady loft exercise and start short training, increase energy and move towards your chosen young bird/racing blend.
Yes — provide insoluble grit/minerals ad lib and fresh water. If using oils/yeast, start lightly and monitor condition; avoid over-supplementing.
