Budgies thrive on a varied seed diet, with different mixes suited to everyday feeding, breeding and conditioning. Traditional budgie seed blends are based around millet and canary seed, while tonic and germination mixes provide additional feeding options at different times of the year.
Our budgie food includes everyday seed mixes, tonic seed and germination blends for bird keepers, breeders and aviaries. Every mix is prepared to provide consistent quality and reliable feeding for budgies at every stage of life.

A simple canary + white millet style base provides dependable energy. Add small amounts of fresh greens/veg and clean water daily. Use conditioning (tonic) seed a few times per week—not every day.
Daily mixes are for routine feeding. Tonic mixes are richer and used 2–3× weekly for condition. Germination seed is designed to be soaked/sprouted to boost enzymes and vitamins—feed it fresh.
Typically 1–2 teaspoons per bird per day of dry seed, plus fresh foods. Monitor body condition and adjust.
Rinse well; soak 8–12 hours; drain and sprout 12–24 hours until tiny tails show. Rinse before feeding. Discard if sour/warm/slimy and clean equipment thoroughly.
Provide cuttlebone or a mineral block for calcium. Many keepers do not offer insoluble grit routinely to budgies.
Only unsalted, unroasted and in very small amounts as treats. The daily diet should remain seed-mix based with fresh foods.
Transition over 5–7 days: 75/25 → 50/50 → 25/75, watching appetite, droppings and weight.
Keep seed cool, dry and airtight off the floor; use first-in, first-out. Replace seed/water daily and wash bowls daily.
